Nature Nugget Contest
All kinds of fun stories happen “out there” in the world of nature. And, sometimes a person doesn’t even have to go “out there.” Do you remember back to 2018 when Grandpa Markley encountered a bear in his cabin? He whacked it with a folding chair only to have it turn on him. As he backed down the hall with the bear coming after him, teeth clacking, he whacked the bear a second time—this time on the nose. Only then did it turn and flee out of the cabin.
How many more of you have a “This happened to me (us, grandpa, the dog)” story? Or, perhaps you have observed a fun nature nugget of some other sort. (Bethany and I once saw a hawk catch a snake among rocks in mid-November while we were hunting.) In either case, we want to hear about it.
Rules:
- Everyone may participate. You do not have to be a subscriber to join this contest.
- We need your story in-hand by July 31, 2025.
- Awards for non-subscribers will be a magazine subscription of x-number of issues. (The definition of a non-subscriber is anyone who wins an award, who has an expired account/no account, the month the winning selection is published.) The antidote is to subscribe/keep renewed.
- Awards active subscribers may win include items similar to what are shown here.
