I’ve been eager to read the submissions that came in for the Trails and Tales contest. Finally, the deadline came and it was time to dig in. Bethany read the submissions to Cheryl, Adrian, and me over several days. After narrowing down our selections, it was difficult (like usual) for us to determine who gets what award. We gathered up the finalists and went to visit my mother. Maybe she could help us decide which story makes which slot.
Mother listened as Bethany read, along with my sister and Adrian.
“So between the one I just read and the one before that, which is your choice?” Bethany asked Mother.
“I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision,” she said with a chuckle.
And so it went. We decided to award a Grand Prize, 1st place, 2nd place, and two 3rd places, as well as an undetermined number of honorable mentions (as of this writing).
In this issue we are publishing the Grand Prize and 1st place stories, as well as some extra awards for photos and art.
