You Will Need:

  • Electric Crock-Pot (We use one with a removable insert.)
  • Two waxed cardboard containers
  • Filter (We use a piece of T-shirt material.)
  • Candle mold (We used a glass custard cup.)
  • Candle wick
  • Beeswax cappings from extracting honey

  1. Melt the beeswax cappings in the Crock-Pot. Carefully pour wax into one cardboard container. Let cool.
  2. Peel cardboard off wax block. Any honey can be strained and used in baking. Using a sharp knife, remove most of the junk on the bottom of the block and discard.
  3. Remelt wax block in Crock-Pot, leaving it in for up to 12 hours to clarify. Never leave heating wax unattended. Pour wax through the filter into the second container.
  4. Pour melted wax into candle mold. Carefully put wick into hot wax, holding it until wax is hard enough.
  5. Trim wick. Enjoy burning your beeswax candle.
