Praise the Lord

Oh, praise the Lord for deep blue skies,
For rolling clouds, and eagle’s cries.
Oh, praise the Lord for singing streams,
For shaded woods, for sunlight’s gleam;
For booming thunder, deep and strong,
For lightning’s flash and rain’s sweet song!
Oh, praise the Lord for morning’s rise
And shining dew and breezes’ sighs;
For mountain meadows, wide and high,
Above the earth, beneath the sky;
For north wind’s roar in pine tree boughs,
For wandering sheep and lowing cows.
Oh, praise Him for white cherry trees,
For katydids and bumblebees.
Oh, praise the Lord for grass that grows,
Spreading, lush beneath your toes;
And leaves that turn from green to gold
And shower down when they grow old.
Praise Him for snowflakes, pure and white,
And moon and stars’ keen silver light.
Praise Him for ice-bound waters freed
And swelling buds and sprouting seeds;
For wild ponies, tough and fleet,
Whose hooves upon the desert beat;
For jagged peaks where glaciers lie,
And for the smallest baby’s cry.
Oh, praise the Lord for smiles kind,
For shaking hands, for hearts and minds.
Praise Him for a caring friend,
Or His own love which has no end.
